Clash magazine and other festival magazines

Title- white bold text against a busy green background helps the title stand out .
Images- Image of a male anf female having fun in a festival, from this image and the greenery colours we get an outdoor feeling, there age connotes that the magazine is aimed at 18-25 year olds.

The cell lines give information on how to survive at festivals who is going to be on and much more, the magazine looks fun, it has competitions in the cell lines to draw readers in.

I have chosen to show this magazine because this is the magazine which relates most to the magazine i am going to do, my magazine is going to show news about the festivals this summer, when to get your tickets and reviews from people that have been. It will show readers how to look good at the festivals and it will tell you what to wear and what to take with you.

These are the other clash front covers i have looked at and got ideas from........

Research Q magazine

Researching and analysing q magazine

Title- The name is short and bold, it is positioned in the top left hand corner which makes it stand out, The font used is bold text and the background colour is red which stands out against the white text.

Age range- 18-30

Photograph-It is a close up of one of the best singers in the world, this straight away would stand out in the shops, it connotes straight away that it is a music magazine.

The cell lines- The cell lines are short but get the point across of who is going to be in the magazine.

PRELIMINARY TASK

The next task I did was a front page for a student magazine, I had to really think about how this front cover will attract students. First of all i found a suitable photograph of a student and a suitable background, i then used bright colours for the background, to make my image stand out.

The first front page i done was the one on the right i found it hard to use photoshop at first so learnt from a photoshop exercise book, i can see how this helped me to improve my work.

I have designed this magazine to make students want to read, it contains information that student may need when going to college or uni. It has useful information in it and competitions that students may want to enter to win concert tickets and other fun stuff.

I have used orange bright colours for the background for the sidelines to make the magazine stand out from others.

INTRODUCTION

At first I could not decide whether my genre was going to be a magazine or a film, I chose a magazine at first mainly because I have used Adobe Photoshop before and have pictures from festivals and concerts which I can use in my double page spread.

This is the Front page of a magazine I have created, it was a practice task. I went round exploring and composed different images that I thought would look good in my magazine, this one was a favourite.

I used different filters such as ‘Different clouds’ to give a different effect to my front page.

After I had chose my image, I had to find a name for my magazine, I went to the newsagents and looked at different music magazines and analysed how they are set out and got ideas for different names.

I had to think about how my magazine will attract my target audience.

I have to think about what is going to be inside my magazine and how my front page links into it.
